Gardening and Growing
Plot-holders taking part in Capital Growth’s ‘Harvest-o-meter’ by weighing their produce, grew the equivalent of 448 meals during the 2023 season, 36 Kg produce, an increase on 2022.
Forest School
The Forest School has a full timetable with sessions for Windrush Primary School, our qualified ‘Forest School Leader’ Chevonne and the child-minders group.
Child-minders Group
Our local Ofsted-ed child-minders group, run by the new leader Katalin, uses the Community Garden children’s area and the Forest School space on Tuesday mornings.
Community Garden Members
Emma and Sherry have given up their plots and we welcomed Bishnu, Dinesh, Gjyste, Katie and Sushala as new plot-holders for the 2022/23 season. We are saddened to hear of the sudden and unexpected death of Vougar Mamadova, at the age of 48, one of our original plot-holders from 2012. A plaque in memory of him has been attached to the peacock installation he built.
Volunteers
The Wednesday volunteer group has been busy this year with Dan, Dinah, Jess, Lulu and Sally all helping out with painting, weeding, clearing leaves and garden & path maintenance.
The Good Gym the fitness group have worked as volunteers on the first Saturday of most months. They have been very helpful with heavy and difficult tasks including moving large amounts of wood chip from outside the Community Garden gates up to the Forest School area.
Visitors
The Community Garden is to feature in two publications following visits from an author, Candy Blackman and scarecrow photographer Max Reeves.
Outdoor Art Therapy
Simon has moved out of London, but we may have a new Outdoor Art Therapist, Abigail Byrne, who is looking to extend her work into the Greenwich area.
The Green Room
The room is available for meetings, teaching, therapy, and counseling sessions at £5 an hour.
Fundraising
The Community Garden has received membership fees as well as Forest School and Green Room hire income. Funds have been boosted by Pub Quizzes, organized by our Vice-Chair Dr. Paul Breen.

Improvements, Maintenance and Gardening
Both the orchard and fruit cages are being redesigned. A temporary repair has been made to the Tea Room shelter. Maria has become the Community Garden gardener working each week on the communal areas.
